How to Find Time in Your Busy Schedule for Some YOU Time

When you first received your real estate license you had one goal: stay busy, busy, busy so you can expand your business. The problem is, you may be so busy now that you don't have any time for yourself - you may have such a busy schedule that you feel a vacation is out of the question.

I'm here to tell you that it isn't - that it's indeed possible, and probably good for your business in the long run, to take time away from work and clear your head. You may think it will be tough, that you have too many clients that rely on you. You need to understand that other people can do just as good a job as you, it's simply a matter of finding a competent and dedicated person you can trust

But how could they possible replace the knowledge and skills you bring to the table? It's as simple as making the necessary preparations before you leave, so your fill-in can handle the day-to-day operations of your team. Here's how you can prepare your team for your absence and ensure your clients are in good hands while you are away:
  • Make sure you have the pertinent details wrapped up for all the parties involved. You need to have detailed instructions for all the parties involved in a transaction, from the closing attorney to the termite people. They need to know exactly what is going on in the transaction.
  • Don't leave your clients with a surprise. Make sure everyone you are currently working with is aware that you will be out of town, and that there are a lot of people "in the know" that can provide help while you're away.
  • Have a lengthy conversation with the mortgage lender if you are representing a buyer. Make sure everyone knows exactly how much money needs to be brought to the table for any closings that may happen while you're away.
  • Make sure all the numbers are known and agreed upon if you are representing a seller. You need to make sure you know the exact amount the seller needs to bring to the table or the check that they will receive at closing.
  • Settle communication between parties before you leave town. Make sure all the right people are in touch and that lines of communication are open and functional. Give your backup person all pertinent files with the details of each transaction.
The worst thing you can do is leave town thinking you'll get everything worked out at closing. By preparing your staff adequately, you can ensure it's business as usual while you're enjoying your vacation. You want to do everything in your power to put things in order before you leave so you are able to relax while you're away.

Now you can start making preparations so you can enjoy some time for yourself before summer ends. The time away will be good for you - you'll come back rejuvenated and with a renewed passion for your work. If you would like more information on how to make sure your business runs smoothly in your absence, we at the Get a Real Estate Life would love to give you a hand!

Can't Miss Event - Mastermind 2014 in Birmingham, Alabama!

Today I am very proud to announce that I'm here in Birmingham to scope out the site of our September Mastermind conference. We will have some wonderful entertainers and speakers here, so you will definitely not want to miss out on this!

There will be three phenomenal acts, the first of which will be a Motown-style performance from Marcus Terell and the Serenades to start the morning off with inspiration and high energy.

After we have you excited and ready to go, the Serenades will hand off the microphone to Simon T. Bailey. He is hands down, one of the best speakers that I have ever seen and he will surely lift you up and inspire you. He will be speaking about his newest book, Shift Your Brilliance, and how you can create an unforgettable experience for your clients so they don't ever consider using someone else.

We will then finish the day with Garry Wise, 'The Paperless Agent'. He will be instructing us on how we can conduct our business with just our cell phones and a computer tablet. This will help improve your organization and also help you to become more tech-savvy even if you choose not to conduct business electronically.

Make sure to get your tickets in advance because this is sure to sell out fast. Just go to www.BhamMastermind.com to buy your tickets and find more information about this event.

I look forward to seeing you there!
