One of the most common questions I am asked is, “What does it take to be a successful real estate agent?” In our field of work, success is determined by profits. So what is the key to becoming a successful agent who brings in a 6-figure income? I am here to tell you. The more effort you put into learning strategies and techniques for selling will directly correlate to your income. Here are some helpful tips to get you started.

  • The #1 key to become a 6-figure agent is the ability to make connections with people. People like fellow agents, prospective clients, or clients you already have. As real estate agents we have a duty to put our customer’s interest above all else. 
  • Another important factor is converting leads. It is important to have a steady stream of leads, but those leads aren’t worth anything if you can’t convert them to sales.
  • Referrals are also an important aspect of becoming a 6 figure agent. If you have the ability to make a connection with your clients and treat them well, they will trust you to do the same for their family and friends.

  • In a crowded field like real estate, being memorable is essential. If you are in a big market, sometimes you are competing with thousands of other agents. You have to do things a little differently to stand out amongst that crowd. Being unique will help you get to the top of your market.
  • Taking care of yourself is almost as important as taking care of your clients. Remember that you are in this business for the benefit of yourself and you need to treat yourself well and work hard towards your goals. You are your own CEO and if you are lethargic about yourself, that will translate over to the client side.
  • Finally, remember to have a positive attitude. This is probably the most important key to becoming a 6 figure agent. Not everybody has all the answers right away and everybody makes mistakes, but with a good attitude you can be teachable and coachable. Real Estate, like everything else in life, is a learning experience and the right attitude can go a long way in helping you reach your goals.
